Kumbutjil Association Launch 28/4/04

The Kumbutjil Association Launch was a special event that bought together service providers, government representatives, politicians, the media and the residents of One Mile Dam Community. There was overwhelming support from extended family including the Kenbi Dancers from across the harbour at Belyuen, family and friends from other town camps and the Darwin area. There where speeches and songs from camp residents, the BBQ was put on by the NT Shelter group. Kenbi Dancers performed traditional songs and the Kumbutjil Association sign was unveiled by David Timber and his granddaughter Kayla Timber. The Launch received positive and wide media coverage through local TV News, a number of radio stations and local newspapers.
