MAN OVERBOARD !

An Aboriginal man (who can't swim) was thrown from the SeaCat ferry by an employee of the racist Mandorah Hotel, Friday 16 June, 2000. If not for Trevor Bianamu and Darrell Whitnell, Timothy Moreen would have drowned. The strong current off the jetty is deadly - even to strong swimmers. N.T. Police did not charge the Mandorah Hotel employee responsible for this assault, endangerment of life and interference with a publicly chartered vessel, although he was at least barred from using the ferry.

The Public Relations Officer for the Dept. of Transport and Works, a Mr Meyer - who was aware of the incident - stated, "there is no law against throwing people off vessels."

Mandorah Hotel employees are also responsible for the bashing of another Aboriginal man (he stole alcohol)- at the Mandorah Hotel - on November 12, 1999.

Steven, the victim of this vigilante attack, who stated, "They beat me like a dog," - was later imprisoned for three months under the Territory's racist, mandatory sentencing laws. One crime, two punishments. Once again -- No Mandorah Hotel employees were charged by NT Police.
